FAQ
Maintenance Guide
Q When should I change my UV lamp?
Our LightSources T5 lamps are rated for 16,000 hours of continuous use, which is roughly 22 months of 24/7 operation. Even if the lamp still lights up blue after 16,000 hours, its invisible UV-C output has degraded below the critical germicidal threshold, compromising your biosecurity.
Q My old unit says 25W, but the replacement is 28W. Is this correct?
Yes. The 25W model has been officially upgraded to 28W for improved flow performance. The new 28W power supply and the 25W/28W lamp are fully backwards compatible drop-in replacements for your older 25W hardware.
Q When does the quartz sleeve need replacing?
Quartz sleeves should be carefully cleaned with a mild acid (like white vinegar) at every lamp change to remove calcium and scale. You only need to completely safely replace the sleeve if it becomes cracked, chipped, or if the cloudiness/calcification becomes permanent and blocks UV light.
