  2. Multiply the ppm value by the total number of liters in your system to get the total milligrams of chlorine present.
  3. Divide the result by 1000 to convert milligrams to grams of sodium thiosulfate required.

Example Calculation:

• If your source water contains 2 ppm of chlorine and your system holds 500 liters:
  1. 2 ppm (mg/L) x 500 liters = 1000 mg of chlorine
  2. 1000 mg ÷ 1000 = 1 gram of sodium thiosulfate needed.
