The BTA Pro-HD Ceramic Diffuser is engineered for the professional operator and serious aquarist who demands Heavy Duty reliability and a High Density bubble plume for superior oxygenation. Forget the limitations of brittle glass-silica and inconsistent black ceramic/corundum. Our diffusers are crafted from ultra-pure white alumina oxide, sintered at an extreme temperature of 1500°C to create a monolithic ceramic structure with a uniform, medium-to-fine pore network.

Why Choose Pro-HD

The purity of the raw white aluminium oxide, coupled with high-temperature firing at 1500°C, results in a superior airstone that outperforms sand mineral airstones, black ceramic/corundum, and even heat-bonded silica air stones.

🛡️

Heavy Duty Construction

Sintered at 1500°C, our diffusers are incredibly strong and resistant to physical shock. Built for the harsh environment of commercial aquaculture and research systems.

💨

High Density Performance

The high-purity ceramic generates a consistent, High Density bubble plume, maximizing air-to-water surface area for superior oxygen dissolution and efficient gas exchange.

⚖️

Harmonious Diffusion

The optimized pore structure delivers professional results without demanding excessive energy from your blower, creating a balanced, stable, and efficiently oxygenated aquatic environment.

🧪

Chemically Inert & Easy to Clean

The high-purity sintered alumina oxide is highly resistant to chemicals and can be easily restored to like-new performance with a standard acid wash, ensuring a long and effective service life.

Professional-Grade Features

Every Pro-HD diffuser is built to exacting standards using materials and processes that ensure consistent performance across thousands of operating hours.

Ultra-Pure Alumina Oxide

White aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃) with exceptional purity ensures no contaminants leach into your water. Unlike black ceramic or corundum alternatives that may contain heavy metal impurities.

1500°C Monolithic Sintering

Extreme-temperature firing fuses particles into a single monolithic structure. No binders, no glues — just pure ceramic strength that resists crumbling and degradation.

Uniform Medium-Fine Pores

Consistent pore distribution across the entire diffuser surface produces an even bubble curtain without dead spots or channelling that plague lower-quality air stones.

Acid-Wash Restorable

Unlike disposable air stones, Pro-HD diffusers can be restored to like-new performance with a standard acid wash. Lower total cost of ownership over years of service.

Wide Flow Range

From 1.0 to 12.0 LPM across the three-model range, there’s a Pro-HD sized for every application — from hatchery tanks to large commercial raceways.

Standard Barb Fittings

4mm and 6mm barb sizes connect directly to standard airline tubing. No special adapters or proprietary connectors required.

Pro-HD Model Range

Three professional sizes to match your system requirements. All models feature the same ultra-pure alumina oxide construction and 1500°C sintering process.

Model Dimensions Barb Size Recommended Flow Rate (LPM) Pore Size Material
AD504B 50mm Sphere 4mm 2.0 – 8.0 LPM Medium-Fine 1500°C Sintered Alumina Oxide
AD20504C 20mm Dia. × 50mm L 4mm 1.0 – 4.0 LPM Medium-Fine 1500°C Sintered Alumina Oxide
AD50506C 50mm Dia. × 50mm L 6mm 2.0 – 12.0 LPM Medium-Fine 1500°C Sintered Alumina Oxide

All flow rates are recommended operating ranges. Diffusers can handle brief excursions beyond stated maximums.

Pro-HD FAQ

Q How do I clean a Pro-HD diffuser?
Perform a standard acid wash using dilute hydrochloric acid (muriatic acid) or citric acid. Soak for 15–30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with fresh water. The high-purity alumina oxide is chemically resistant and will not degrade from acid cleaning. This restores the diffuser to like-new performance.
Q What makes alumina oxide better than standard air stones?
Standard air stones use sand, silica, or black ceramic/corundum that may contain impurities and have inconsistent pore structures. Pro-HD uses ultra-pure white alumina oxide (Al₂O₃), sintered at 1500°C into a monolithic structure. This produces a uniform bubble plume, resists physical shock, and won’t leach contaminants into your water.
Q Which model should I choose for my system?
AD20504C (1.0–4.0 LPM) suits small hatchery tanks and research systems. AD504B (2.0–8.0 LPM) is the versatile mid-range sphere for most commercial applications. AD50506C (2.0–12.0 LPM) handles large raceways and high-demand aeration. Match your blower output to the recommended flow range for optimal bubble quality.
Q How long do Pro-HD diffusers last?
With proper maintenance and periodic acid washing, Pro-HD diffusers can provide years of continuous service. Unlike disposable air stones that degrade within months, the monolithic sintered structure resists crumbling and maintains consistent pore distribution over thousands of operating hours.
