The MBV Micro Bubble Venturi is an optimised venturi aerator that uses the energy of your existing water pump to draw air naturally into the flow and shear it into a full spectrum of fine bubbles — milibubbles from 100 µm to 2 mm and microbubbles from 60 to 100 µm. It is the venturi counterpart to our NBN Nano Bubble Nozzle range, delivering approximately half the gas transfer rate of the equivalent NBN model at the same water flow — with the simplicity of a self-aspirating design that needs no air compressor.
The MBV difference
Why a venturi aerator?
🌀
Self-aspirating
The venturi core accelerates water through a restriction, dropping pressure and drawing air in naturally through the suction port. No air compressor, blower or extra power draw.
🫧
Milli + micro bubble mix
Generates the full fine bubble spectrum — milibubbles from 100 µm to 2 mm for rapid gas exchange, plus microbubbles from 60 to 100 µm for longer in-water dwell time.
🔧
Plumbing flexible
Available in a range of inlet and outlet sizes across metric and imperial-compatible dimensions, with single and multiple outlet versions to suit your manifold layout.
Features
Built for real systems
⚡
No compressor
Air is drawn in by water flow alone — one pump does all the work.
🧪
O₂ and O₃ ready
The suction port accepts atmospheric air or an oxygen or ozone gas supply.
📐
Multiple outlets
Two and three/four outlet versions distribute bubbles across wider tanks or multiple cells.
🔩
Flexible connection
Threaded and solvent-weld options in sizes matching common metric and imperial pipework.
🌊
Aquaculture grade
Designed for aquarium, aquaculture and RAS duty in fresh and salt water.
🧭
Simple install
In-line fitting with standard hose and valve accessories; no specialist tools.

Choosing your model
Which MBV is right?
Match flow to your pump
Select the MBV model whose rated flow (5–70 m³/h) matches your pump\'s circulation rate at operating head. If your system sits between models, size up for headroom. Multiple outlet versions suit wider tanks or multi-cell distribution — gas transfer stays the same because total flow is unchanged. Pump recommendations are application-specific — contact us with your system volume and pump details for sizing.
FAQ
Common questions
Do I need an air compressor?
No. The MBV is self-aspirating — the venturi draws air naturally from atmosphere using only the energy of your water pump.
What bubble sizes does it produce?
A full fine bubble spectrum: milibubbles from 100 µm to 2 mm and microbubbles from 60 to 100 µm.
How does it compare to the NBN nozzle?
At the same water flow rate, the MBV delivers approximately 50% of the gas transfer rate of the equivalent NBN Nano Bubble Nozzle. The trade-off is simplicity: no compressor, no gas supply equipment.
Can I run oxygen or ozone through it?
Yes. The suction port accepts atmospheric air, oxygen or ozone gas supply. Use appropriate gas-rated fittings for O₂/O₃ service.
What pipe sizes does it connect to?
½" through 4" SCH40 imperial, plus DN80 metric. See the specification table above.
Which model should I choose?
Match the rated flow to your pump\'s circulation rate. For help sizing, contact Biotech Aquatica with your system volume and pump details.
