Nitroplex is a purpose-built liquid microbial inoculant for aquaculture biofilters, RAS, aquariums, ponds and any aquatic system that benefits from enhanced nitrification. Q Is this the same product as NCOMP?
Yes. Nitroplex is the new name for NCOMP — the same complete nitrogen-reduction consortium, now with 16 synergistic strains and refreshed packaging. Same trusted performance, same aerobic technology.
Q How does Nitroplex remove nitrate aerobically?
Facultative heterotrophic and aerobic denitrifying strains. They oxidise organic carbon using nitrate as an electron acceptor in the presence of oxygen — a metabolic pathway that bypasses the need for anoxic zones entirely.
Q Do I need to dose methanol or carbon supplements?
No. Strains are pre-adapted to OC-K carbon and utilise native carbon sources already in your system. For enhanced carbon support and fastest start-up, dose OC-K alongside Nitroplex — but no methanol or external carbon is required.
Q Is there a risk of hydrogen sulphide (H₂S)?
Zero risk. Because Nitroplex operates aerobically, sulphate-reducing bacteria (the source of H₂S) cannot outcompete the consortium. No anaerobic zone = no H₂S production.
Q Can I use it with fish in the system?
Yes. Use with fish or during fishless cycling. It's for aquatic use only and safe for fish, crustaceans, molluscs and aquatic plants. Keep out of reach of children.
Q How should I store it and what's the shelf life?
12 months from date of manufacture. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight; refrigerate after opening for better stability. Do not freeze and keep the container tightly closed.
