FERRIX03

Three contaminant classes. One media. Zero compromise.
FERRIX-03 is an industrial-grade granular ferric hydroxide adsorbent — engineered for municipal wastewater treatment, unleashed on your reef tank, RAS or pond.

FERRIX-03 is not another aquarium GFO. It's a certified water-treatment adsorbent — granular ferric hydroxide with ~300 m²/g of reactive surface and 60% iron content, built to strip phosphate, silicate and heavy metals from municipal and industrial wastewater. We've brought that same capacity to wet systems of every size: more adsorption per gram, longer media life, and a certified target list that budget aquarium GFO simply doesn't have. Data is king — and this data sheet speaks for itself.

Three Targets. One Media.

The 03 is the whole story: phosphate, silicate and heavy metals — the three contaminant classes behind algae outbreaks, diatom blooms and long-term livestock stress — all locked onto one high-capacity media surface.

The 03 Difference

Certified Capacity.
Aquarium Ready.

Most aquarium GFO is an unbranded brown powder with a marketing story. FERRIX-03 is manufactured to DIN EN 15029 — the European standard for water-treatment adsorbents — in an ISO 9001:2015 certified facility.

That means every batch carries a guaranteed spec: 60% iron content, ~300 m²/g BET surface, low-dust granules. It fluidises cleanly in a reactor, runs quiet in a media bag, and keeps working long after budget media is exhausted.

🧪

01 · Phosphate

The number one algae fuel in any wet system. Phosphate feeds nuisance algae, fuels cyanobacteria and suppresses coral calcification. FERRIX-03 locks it onto the media surface — permanently, until you change the media out.

🦠

02 · Silicate

The diatom fuel most budget GFO ignores. Silicate drives brown diatom films in reef and freshwater systems alike — and it's on the certified target list, not the fine print.

🧲

03 · Heavy Metals

Tap water top-ups, salt mixes and food all drip-feed metals into your system. FERRIX-03 strips arsenic, copper, lead, zinc and more before they accumulate in fish tissue and invertebrates.

The Full Removal List

Straight off the manufacturer's certified target list — every contaminant below is adsorbed by FERRIX-03 as water passes over the granules.

Phosphate (PO₄³⁻) — primary target Silicate (SiO₄) — diatom fuel Arsenic (As) Copper (Cu) Lead (Pb) Zinc (Zn) Molybdenum (Mo) Antimony (Sb) Vanadium (V) Uranium (U) Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S) — rotten-egg gas Hydrogen Peroxide (H₂O₂) — residual oxidant

Low-dust granules. A quick rinse and you're running — no orange cloud, no fines blowing through sponges.
Built to fluidise. The 0.2–2.0 mm grain tumbles gently in a reactor without grinding to dust.
Massive reactive surface. ~300 m² of adsorption sites per gram — that's why it outlasts budget media between change-outs.
No leaching, no nonsense. Contaminants stay bound to the media until you throw it out. Nothing dosed, nothing released back.

Built for Every Wet System

Reef & Marine

Hold phosphate at ultra-low levels for SPS colour and growth, starve nuisance algae and dinoflagellates, and strip the silicate that fuels diatoms. Run it in a fluidised reactor for maximum efficiency.

Freshwater & Planted

Crush algae outbreaks and diatom films without algaecides. High-tech planted note: if you dose phosphate as fertiliser, run FERRIX-03 sparingly or bypass it — it will strip dosed PO₄.

Aquaculture & RAS

Polish phosphate in intensive systems, bind hydrogen sulfide in sumps and sludge zones, and strip heavy metals from intake water. Bulk supply and LSS sizing available — talk to us.

Ponds

Cut the phosphate that feeds blanket weed and green water. Run in a media bag in a high-flow zone of your filter and replace when algae pressure returns.

How to Run It

1
💧

Rinse Briefly

Low-dust granules — a quick rinse under RO or tap water until the runoff clears and you're done.

2
🛀

Fluidised Reactor (Best)

Aim for a gentle, slow tumble — not a boil. Over-fluidising grinds media and clouds water.

3
🧸

Or Media Bag

High-flow zone of sump or canister filter. Knead weekly to stop channelling so water can't cheat past the granules.

4
📊

Test, Don't Guess

Start at ~100 mL per 400 L, check PO₄ weekly and replace when levels climb. Established reefs: start at half dose and ramp over 1–2 weeks. Data is king.

FERRIX03 FAQ

Q Is FERRIX-03 just GFO?
Yes — GFO is granular ferric oxide/hydroxide, and FERRIX-03 is the high-capacity, wastewater-treatment-grade version. ~300 m²/g reactive surface and 60% iron content means more adsorption per gram than budget aquarium GFO, and it's certified to the DIN EN 15029 water-treatment standard.
Q Does it really remove silicate?
Yes — silicate is on the manufacturer's certified target list. Most budget GFO barely touches it; that's why diatoms keep coming back.
Q Is it reef safe?
Yes, used as directed. Start conservative in established reefs and ramp over 1–2 weeks — rapid phosphate drops stress corals more than high phosphate does.
Q How often do I replace it?
When phosphate starts climbing again — typically 4–8 weeks in aquariums depending on bioload and feeding. Test, don't guess.
Q Freshwater and planted tanks?
Brilliant for algae and diatom control. One exception: planted tanks dosing phosphate fertiliser — run sparingly or bypass, as it will strip dosed phosphate.
