MBBR Media

Static Bed media

Static beds (also called fixed beds,) are also widespread in the aquaculture industry. They utilise small media in a packed (static) configuration and water either flows up or down through the media, polishing the water whilst also providing biological filtration. Media choice and regular maintenance are important to maintain optimum efficiency, oxygen transfer, export of waste, and to eliminate the possibility of anaerobic pockets forming in the bed.
